History of Commodities

One of the earliest written records of futures trading is in Aristotle's book Politics. The first modern organized futures exchange began in 1710 at the Dojima Rice Exchange in Osaka, Japan. The United States followed in 1848 with the Chicago Board of Trade, which now operates as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) . New York Mercantile Exchange(NYMEX), National Stock Exchange of India,CME , are some of the leading exchanges of the world.

In Nepal, Commodities and Metal Exchange Nepal(COMEN) was the first exchange established in December 16, 2006. In addition, Mercantile Exchange and Nepal Derevative Exchange Ltd. have also started their operations.
